Trump Shares Touching Story Of Barron Wanting To Meet Charlie Kirk

President Donald Trump shared a personal story Friday morning about what conservative leader Charlie Kirk meant to his youngest son, Barron, recalling how the 18-year-old once asked to be introduced to Kirk.

“He was very hurt when he saw this. But, I mean, everybody was,” Trump said during an in-studio interview on Fox & Friends, as he discussed the arrest of 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, the suspect accused of assassinating Kirk during an event at Utah Valley University.

Trump described Barron’s admiration for the Turning Point USA founder. “Barron came to me and he said, ‘Dad, I’d like to meet somebody that you know, Charlie Kirk,’” Trump recalled. “I thought he was gonna say he wanted to meet like King Charles or something … and I set up a lunch … and he came back and said, ‘That guy’s great, Dad. That guy’s great.’ It was cute.”

The president went on to praise Kirk’s ability to inspire young Americans of all backgrounds. “Charlie had a magic over the kids and large numbers of them, and very diverse, black, white. I mean, everybody, the young women and boys, and I’ve never seen anything like it,” Trump said. “We lost an unbelievable warrior.”

Kirk’s death has left a void in the conservative movement, particularly among the young people he empowered to speak boldly against the tide of cancel culture on college campuses.

“It’s kind of scary to say what you believe in, especially in this cancel culture,” said Porter LaFeber, a student at Utah Valley University, in remarks to The New York Times. “Charlie Kirk seemed like he just went totally above that. He kind of gave a voice to the people that were maybe a little bit scared. He gave me the confidence to be able to believe what I believe.”

On Thursday night, law enforcement arrested Robinson, a Utah resident with no known ties to UVU, in connection with the fatal shooting. Authorities have called Kirk’s murder a targeted political assassination.
