Trump Celebrates “Crystal Clear” Reflecting Pool And Calls For Arrest Of Vandalism Suspects
President Donald Trump touted the dramatic transformation of Washington’s Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool over the weekend, sharing images of what he described as a “crystal clear” landmark while renewing calls for those responsible for vandalism damage to be arrested and prosecuted.
Trump highlighted the results of the administration’s renovation efforts, pointing to the pool’s improved water clarity and the successful elimination of the algae problems that had plagued the site in recent years. Administration officials credited new nanobubbler technology and extensive restoration work carried out ahead of America’s 250th birthday celebrations.
Interior Department officials said crews are continuing to remove dead algae and complete final cleanup efforts as the renovated pool returns to what they described as pristine condition. Images released by the administration showed clear reflections of both the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument.
At the same time, Trump called for the arrest of additional individuals allegedly responsible for damaging portions of the pool’s liner and surrounding areas. The president shared a “Wanted” notice and urged the public to assist authorities in identifying those involved.
Federal authorities have already made multiple arrests related to alleged vandalism at the site, with former Olympic canoeist David Hearn among those facing charges connected to damage at the Reflecting Pool. Investigators say additional incidents remain under review as the restoration effort continues.
The Reflecting Pool renovation has become one of the administration’s most visible America 250 projects as Washington prepares for a year of celebrations marking the nation’s 250th anniversary. Officials say repairs to damaged sections of the liner will continue while keeping disruptions to visitors to a minimum.
