Update 6/11/25: ABC News Cuts Ties with Terry Moran After Anti-Trump, Anti-Miller Social Media Meltdown
ABC News has suspended longtime national correspondent Terry Moran after a late-night social media tirade targeting President Donald Trump and his deputy chief of staff, Stephen Miller. The rant, which quickly went viral before being deleted, accused Miller of being a “world-class hater” who “eats his hate,” and suggested that President Trump views hatred as merely “a means to an end.”
The network acted swiftly, announcing Moran’s suspension for violating internal standards of journalistic impartiality. ABC executives said the comments were “inconsistent with the values and responsibilities expected of our newsroom,” and confirmed an internal review was underway.
An ABC journalist @TerryMoran posted this absolutely vile smear of Stephen Miller. It’s dripping with hatred. Remember that every time you watch ABC’s coverage of the Trump administration.
As it happens, I know Stephen quite well. And he’s motivated by love of country. He’s… pic.twitter.com/hX93zKTWjy

White House officials were quick to respond. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt called Moran’s remarks “deranged and disgraceful,” demanding accountability. Vice President JD Vance condemned the outburst, while Miller’s wife slammed Moran’s rhetoric as “media-sanctioned propaganda masquerading as morality.”
This isn’t Moran’s first brush with controversy. He previously sparred with the administration during a heated sit-down interview with President Trump early in his first term. The timing of this latest episode is particularly notable, as ABC is already on shaky ground with the Trump administration following a $15 million defamation settlement earlier this year related to on-air comments by anchor George Stephanopoulos.
The suspension shines a spotlight on the growing divide between legacy media outlets and public trust—particularly among conservatives. With a prominent reporter sidelined for a blatant partisan attack, ABC’s move may signal a renewed effort to rein in biased commentary from within its own ranks.
But for many in Trump’s camp, the damage is already done. As one senior official put it, “This wasn’t just a slip—it was a window into how many in the press really view this administration. And the American people see it.”
