FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino has broken his silence on two of the most controversial and closely-watched investigations in recent memory: the death of convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein and the unsolved January 6 pipe bomb incidents.
On Epstein: “No Evidence of Foul Play”
According to Bongino, the FBI is preparing to release long-withheld surveillance footage from Epstein’s cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center, where he was found dead in 2019. The footage, he says, clearly shows Epstein was alone in his cell in the moments leading up to his death.
“There are no signs of foul play—no DNA, no fingerprints, nothing to suggest another person was present,” Bongino confirmed. “This video should put to rest many of the conspiracies that have swirled for years.”
While skepticism about Epstein’s death has fueled countless theories—especially due to the high-profile figures implicated in his crimes—the FBI insists the footage is conclusive. Bongino said the release of the video is part of a broader push for transparency and accountability under the bureau’s current leadership.
On January 6 Pipe Bombs: “We’re Closing In”
Bongino also delivered an update on the FBI’s long-stalled investigation into the pipe bombs placed near the Republican and Democratic National Committee headquarters on January 6, 2021. The devices were discovered shortly before the Capitol riot and are believed to have been a coordinated effort to distract and disrupt law enforcement.
Bongino acknowledged that the previous administration “dropped the ball” on this critical case, focusing instead on charging hundreds of January 6 protesters while allowing this potentially more dangerous threat to go unresolved.
“That changes now,” Bongino said. “We’ve reopened leads, brought in fresh investigative teams, and are now conducting weekly briefings. We are closing in on some suspects.”
He also called on the public to assist in the investigation, encouraging anyone with credible information to come forward.
A Shift Toward Transparency and Results
Bongino’s updates mark a significant shift in tone from the FBI, which under his leadership has promised greater transparency and responsiveness to public concerns. Both the Epstein and pipe bomb cases have become symbols of public mistrust—fueled by delays, unanswered questions, and perceived political bias.
Now, with renewed urgency and fresh oversight, Bongino says the Bureau is determined to follow the evidence wherever it leads—and deliver the truth that Americans deserve.
