Border Czar Tom Homan is applauding President Trump’s newly passed “One Big, Beautiful Bill,” calling it a game-changer for immigration enforcement and a long-overdue investment in securing the U.S. border. According to Homan, the bill finally delivers the resources needed to enforce immigration law on a national scale—and to do it with strength.
“We need more money to deport illegals, plain and simple,” Homan said. “You can’t have strong enforcement without strong funding. This bill gives us what we’ve been asking for.”
The legislation, narrowly passed in the House, includes significant funding increases for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the expansion of detention facilities, more agents on the ground, and streamlined deportation procedures. Homan, who served as acting ICE director under Trump during his first term, emphasized that these tools are essential to reversing years of what he calls “open-border chaos.”
“Sanctuary cities have made a mess of things,” Homan added. “This administration is bringing the hammer down. If local leaders want to shield illegal aliens from the law, they should be held accountable.”
Homan also highlighted that the bill doesn’t just fund deportations—it restores federal control over immigration enforcement, ending the patchwork of local resistance that’s slowed removals in recent years. He pointed to the need for expanded capacity, especially as border apprehensions continue to climb. “You can’t deport anyone if you don’t have beds, judges, or buses,” he said.
The “One Big, Beautiful Bill” also includes penalties for jurisdictions that obstruct federal immigration operations, as well as funding for improved border infrastructure, technology, and legal processing capacity. Homan says this kind of layered approach is the only way to truly fix what’s broken.
Critics have attacked the bill as heavy-handed and anti-immigrant, but Homan pushed back. “This is about national security and rule of law. If we can’t enforce our borders, we don’t have a country.”
As the bill heads to the Senate, the administration is making clear that immigration enforcement is back at the center of American policy—and this time, it’s backed with real firepower. Homan says the message to illegal immigrants and the politicians who shield them is simple: “We’re done playing games.”
