Canadian Woman Taken Into ICE Custody After Allegedly Assaulting Teen Wearing Trump Clothing

A Canadian woman is being held by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement after authorities say she assaulted a teenage girl who was wearing clothing featuring President Trump and ICE while visiting the Jersey Shore.

According to court documents, 33-year-old Kaitlyn E. Tracey approached a group of four teenage girls on the Point Pleasant Beach boardwalk on July 3 and began recording them with her cellphone. Police say two of the girls were wearing patriotic sweatpants displaying the words “Trump” and “ICE.”

Investigators allege Tracey began yelling at the group before slapping one of the girls across the face and body. The victim was not seriously injured. Surveillance video reportedly captured the encounter, and authorities later identified Tracey and obtained an arrest warrant.

Tracey has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child, simple assault, harassment, and obstruction. Following her arrest, she was transferred into ICE custody at the Delaney Hall detention facility in Newark. Immigration officials said Tracey is a Canadian citizen who entered the United States in 2024.

Her husband, Matthew Geroni, confirmed she is being held by ICE and has publicly defended her, arguing that the incident has been taken out of context. He also launched an online fundraiser to help cover legal expenses before it was later removed.

Tracey is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 4. Her immigration status could also be affected as ICE continues its review of the case.
