Charlie Kirk Assassination Probe Widens to Investigate Pro-Trans, Online Groups
Federal investigators have widened their probe into the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, examining whether pro-trans and far-left online groups may have had advance knowledge of the plot to kill the 31-year-old Turning Point USA founder.
Law enforcement sources confirmed to The Post that investigators are looking into both Utah-based and online groups for possible involvement. The inquiry includes the gaming platform Steam as well as a radical pro-trans group called Armed Queers SLC, which deleted its Instagram account shortly after Kirk’s killing.
Authorities are also combing through a disturbing series of social media posts that surfaced before and after the Sept. 10 shooting — raising questions about whether Robinson acted entirely alone or if others had advance knowledge of his plan.
One archived post from Sept. 9 read: “Charlie Kirk is coming to my college tomorrow I rlly hope someone evaporates him literally.” Hours later the same account added, “Let’s just say something big will happen tomorrow,” alongside a meme of a grinning dog.
The day after Kirk was murdered, the account followed up: “CHARLIE KIRK GOT SHOT BRO I PROMISE I DIDNT HSVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT” before changing usernames, according to archives.
Another TikTok video posted the day before the assassination warned: “Charles James Kirk… does NOT know what’s coming tomorrow. Be ready… This isn’t a threat it’s a promise.” The clip was captioned: “It’s a BADDD day to be Charlie [tomorrow] #uvu #charliekirk #liberal #debate #fyp.”
Meanwhile, Armed Queers SLC has drawn scrutiny for its past events. In September 2023, the group co-hosted a “queer resistance” lecture at the University of Utah alongside a leftist student organization. Flyers obtained by Young America’s Foundation featured communist symbols, a rainbow flag, and an armed figure clutching an AK-47 beneath the words “Agitate, Educate, Organize.”
A spokesperson for the group previously told Voyage Utah: “Our commitment to something much bigger than ourselves, to people’s struggles against racism, transphobia, and capitalism, means much more to us than any risk.”
Adding to investigators’ leads, Governor Spencer Cox revealed Robinson had been in a relationship with a live-in transgender partner, identified as Lance Twiggs. Cox stressed Twiggs has been “incredibly cooperative” with authorities and is not accused of involvement.
“It’s very clear to us and to the investigators that this was a person who was deeply indoctrinated with leftist ideology,” Cox told The Wall Street Journal. He added that family members confirmed Robinson had grown increasingly political in recent years, specifically voicing hatred toward Kirk.
Kirk was assassinated by a sniper’s bullet to the neck while answering a question about mass shootings committed by trans-identifying individuals. The weapon recovered nearby carried casings engraved with leftist slogans such as “Hey Fascist! Catch!” and “Bella Ciao,” an anti-fascist anthem.
The FBI has not confirmed which groups are under direct investigation, but the widening probe underscores concerns that Robinson may not have been acting entirely alone.
