Ex-Pentagon Employee Reports Seeing Mysterious ‘Translucent Triangle’ UFO Over Colorado
A former Pentagon employee and his wife reported seeing a mysterious triangle-shaped object flying over their Colorado home in 2023, according to newly released government files detailing the unusual encounter.
The account was included in the fifth batch of UFO records released by the Trump administration on Friday. An FBI interview summary prepared in January describes the October 2023 sighting, which occurred as the couple sat on their back porch shortly before 11 p.m.
According to the witness, the unidentified object may have passed as low as 300 feet above them. He described it as a nearly perfect triangle without visible wings, fins or conventional engine housings, making it dramatically different from the aircraft he was accustomed to seeing.
The former Pentagon employee said the object appeared almost translucent, with a strange haze or distortion surrounding it. The effect reportedly made the craft look as though it were being viewed through mist or underwater, with ripples making its precise shape and edges difficult to determine.
Perhaps most unusual was the complete lack of sound. The witness said the object produced no engine noise, rumbling, static or other noticeable physical effects as it passed overhead. He initially described the triangle as having rounded edges, although he acknowledged that the strange visual distortion surrounding it could have created that appearance.
As the object moved farther away, the couple reportedly noticed a band of silverish-blue light. The former Pentagon employee speculated that the light could have been connected to the object’s propulsion system, although the documents provide no determination about what actually produced it.
The craft reportedly traveled rapidly along a straight path while maintaining a consistent altitude. Just before disappearing from view, it suddenly shifted into an almost vertical orientation without appearing to change its direction or elevation, a maneuver the witness said was unlike anything he had previously encountered.
The entire encounter lasted only about four seconds, leaving the couple without enough time to grab a phone and capture a photograph or video. The witness said he lives near an airport and is very familiar with private aircraft, helicopters and advanced drones, but maintained that the object’s appearance and movement did not resemble anything he recognized.
The account is among the unusual cases emerging from the Trump administration’s continuing release of government UFO records. President Trump has expressed skepticism about extraterrestrial life while still ordering greater transparency surrounding unidentified anomalous phenomena, giving the public access to previously undisclosed reports involving unexplained objects in American skies.
