FBI Director Kash Patel: Bureau Protected Hillary Clinton While Targeting Trump, But That Era Is Over

FBI Director Kash Patel is pulling no punches in a blistering new interview, accusing the Bureau’s former leadership of running political interference for Hillary Clinton while weaponizing federal power against President Donald Trump.

According to Patel, top brass at the FBI during the Trump presidency went to extraordinary lengths to shield Clinton from scrutiny while aggressively pursuing a baseless investigation into Trump’s alleged ties to Russia—an operation known as Crossfire Hurricane.

“They ran cover for Hillary Clinton at all ends,” Patel said, slamming the FBI’s handling of her private email server and the broader misconduct tied to the Trump-Russia hoax. “They bastardized the FISA process, they hid documents, and they misled the American people.”

Patel, who was confirmed as FBI Director earlier this year, made it clear those days are over. He said the Bureau is undergoing a top-down overhaul aimed at restoring public trust and ending the political weaponization of federal law enforcement.

“Everything we do now is guided by one principle: the rule of law,” Patel said. “We’re done with two-tiered justice. There is no more protection for the politically connected.”

Patel’s comments echo long-standing concerns from conservatives about the deep state’s influence over the intelligence community—concerns that have gained traction following revelations of bias, misconduct, and selective prosecution in high-profile cases over the last decade.

Under Patel’s leadership, the FBI has initiated a series of internal reforms, including new transparency protocols, stricter FISA oversight, and a decentralization strategy that relocates senior personnel away from Washington, D.C. He says these steps are designed to root out corruption and prevent political agendas from infecting federal investigations.

The statement also signals a clear shift in tone from the FBI’s previous leadership, which came under fire for downplaying serious evidence against Clinton while launching intrusive probes into Trump and his associates—many of which later collapsed under legal and factual scrutiny.

For years, critics have argued that the Bureau was more interested in protecting Democrats than enforcing the law impartially. Now, with Patel at the helm, the FBI appears to be undergoing a course correction—one aimed at rebuilding credibility and ensuring justice applies to everyone, regardless of political affiliation.

“The old guard is gone,” Patel said. “We’re cleaning house—and we’re just getting started.”
