Georgia Democrat Refers To United States As ‘World’s Number One Bully,’ ‘The Great Satan’

Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA) is once again making headlines for controversial remarks — this time comparing the United States to Iranian propaganda talking points and referring to the country as both the “world’s number one bully” and “the Great Satan.”

In an interview with far-left commentator Dean Obeidallah, Johnson launched into a tirade against American foreign policy, arguing that the U.S. uses its global power to dominate smaller nations. “We are the world’s number one bully,” Johnson declared. “We are using our immense unrivaled power to rule over those who have less power.”

The Georgia Democrat didn’t stop there. He doubled down, invoking one of the most infamous insults used by enemies of the U.S., including the Iranian regime: “This sends a shocking message to the world that America is indeed the — what did they used to call it — the great hand of Satan, or something like that.”

Then, without irony, he added, “America under the Trump regime is demonstrating that that moniker is entirely accurate. That’s what we’ve become in this country, the great Satan.”

The inflammatory remarks drew sharp backlash online, with critics slamming Johnson for echoing rhetoric commonly used by authoritarian regimes and Islamist extremists.

Johnson is no stranger to public gaffes. During a congressional hearing in 2010, he infamously warned that the island of Guam could “tip over and capsize” if the U.S. military deployed too many personnel and equipment there. Admiral Robert Willard, then-head of the U.S. Pacific Fleet, calmly responded, “We don’t anticipate that.”

Now, as the Biden-era Democratic Party continues to battle internal divisions between its far-left and establishment factions, Johnson’s comments are likely to reignite concerns about the growing influence of radical voices in Washington — voices seemingly more interested in demonizing their own country than confronting real adversaries abroad.
