Harry Kane Calls Golf Outing With President Trump A ‘Surreal’ Experience
England captain Harry Kane has opened up about playing golf with President Donald Trump, describing the experience as “pretty surreal” while praising the president’s golf game ahead of England’s World Cup quarterfinal against Norway.
Kane confirmed the round took place about 18 months ago in Palm Beach, Florida, after President Trump invited him to play. The Bayern Munich striker said it was a unique opportunity and that he appreciated being asked.
“It was a pretty surreal experience,” Kane said. “Obviously, he’s someone I’ve seen on TV and in the news for many years. To spend a few hours with him on the golf course was really special.”
The comments came just days after President Trump publicly praised Kane following England’s dramatic 3-2 World Cup victory over Mexico. Trump called Kane “a great player” and revealed the two had played golf together, adding that the England captain is also “a really great golfer.”
Kane returned the compliment, saying Trump played impressive golf and joking that he hopes he can still swing the club as well when he reaches the president’s age.
“I hope I can play like him when I’m his age,” Kane said with a smile.
The England captain said the focus now shifts back to football as England prepares to face Norway in the World Cup quarterfinals. Kane also praised Norwegian star Erling Haaland, calling him one of the world’s best strikers and saying he looks forward to the matchup.
England enters the match seeking its first World Cup semifinal appearance since 2018. Kane has been one of the tournament’s standout performers and remains central to England’s hopes of capturing its first World Cup title since 1966.
