Jeffrey Epstein Tried To Kill Himself Multiple Times In Jail, Several Nooses Found In Cell, Bombshell Report Claims

Disgraced financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein allegedly attempted to take his own life at least three times before his death in August 2019, and investigators found multiple nooses inside his jail cell, according to a new report.

Former New York police officer and convicted murderer Nicholas Tartaglione, 56, who briefly shared a cell with Epstein at the now-closed Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan, told The New York Times that Epstein directly asked him how to make a noose just days before his first reported suicide attempt on July 22, 2019.

The conversation reportedly occurred after a judge denied Epstein’s request for bail. It was his 13th day in federal custody.

According to Tartaglione, he witnessed Epstein making preparations to end his life on at least two occasions in the days that followed.

In one incident, Tartaglione said Epstein tied a bedsheet to a grate over a cell window. On another occasion, he awoke in the darkened cell and found Epstein acting suspiciously before discovering a noose hidden beneath his mattress.

Tartaglione said he reported both incidents to correctional officers, but claimed his concerns were dismissed.

His account was later corroborated by another inmate, Peter Bright, who told the Times that Tartaglione had informed him about the earlier incidents shortly after Epstein’s death.

On July 22, less than three weeks before Epstein was found dead, Tartaglione said he discovered the financier motionless on the floor of their cell with an orange fabric noose around his neck.

Epstein initially claimed to corrections officers that Tartaglione had attacked him and attempted to kill him.

However, an internal prison investigation later cleared Tartaglione of any involvement in the incident.

When Epstein was found dead in his cell on the morning of Aug. 10, 2019, investigators reportedly discovered various linens scattered throughout the cell, including several makeshift nooses and strips of orange fabric that could be fashioned into additional nooses.

The new details add to years of scrutiny surrounding Epstein’s death, which occurred while he was awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges involving underage girls.

Federal authorities officially ruled Epstein’s death a suicide by hanging, though questions and speculation surrounding the circumstances of his death have persisted in the years since.
