Jimmy Kimmel Reportedly ‘F–king Livid’ Over ABC Pulling ‘Live!’ — As Trump Cheers ‘Great News For America’
Jimmy Kimmel is reportedly seething over ABC’s decision to yank his late-night talk show “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” following backlash to his comments about the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk — and President Donald Trump wasted no time celebrating the move.
According to producers who spoke to the Daily Mail, the 57-year-old comedian was “absolutely f–king livid” after being told Wednesday that the show was being suspended indefinitely. The network’s decision came just two days after Kimmel accused conservatives of exploiting Kirk’s murder for political gain during a Monday night monologue.
“Jimmy is pissed over the decision to suspend him and the show and he isn’t going to take this lightly,” one source said, adding that Kimmel is now actively exploring ways to break his contract with ABC. Another source said they’d “never seen Kimmel this angry.”
The fallout began when Kimmel addressed the political discourse surrounding the murder of Kirk — who was gunned down last Wednesday at Utah Valley University while engaging with students. Tyler Robinson, 22, has been arrested and charged with the assassination.
Kimmel told his audience that the “MAGA gang” was “trying to characterize this kid who killed Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them,” a remark that provoked immediate backlash from conservatives and media affiliates. In reality, Tyler Robinson was a far-left extremist who was in a relationship with a male transgender individual. Text messages released by prosecutors revealed that Robinson considered Kirk to be full of “hate” and said his actions were deliberate.
In response to Kimmel’s remarks, Nexstar Media Group — a major ABC affiliate network — said it would preempt “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” indefinitely. The move triggered ABC to pull the show from its lineup altogether.
President Trump reacted with glee on Truth Social.
“Great News for America: The ratings challenged Jimmy Kimmel Show is CANCELLED,” Trump posted. “Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what had to be done. Kimmel has ZERO talent, and worse ratings than even Colbert, if that’s possible… Do it NBC!!! President DJT”
The decision marks the second major blow to liberal late-night comedy within a few months. In July, CBS announced that Stephen Colbert’s “The Late Show” would end after its next season in May 2026 — another decision Trump publicly celebrated.
Behind the scenes, sources say Kimmel and Colbert are now discussing teaming up to “fight for what they believe in,” with Colbert reportedly looking to have Kimmel on his show this week in a defiant act of solidarity against Trump.
Kimmel had attempted to walk back his comments with a vague condolence post on social media, but the damage was already done.
FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr applauded the move by Nexstar and Sinclair affiliates, calling it a “turning point.”
“This action today by Nexstar and Sinclair, frankly, it’s unprecedented,” Carr said during an interview with Sean Hannity. “I can’t imagine another time when we’ve had local broadcasters tell a national programmer like Disney that your content no longer meets the needs and the values of our community.”
Carr ripped into the current state of late-night shows, calling them “court clerics” for the progressive Left who force-feed “ideological foie gras” from New York and Hollywood.
“Jimmy Kimmel Live!” had been a fixture on ABC since 2004, but insiders now say its days may be numbered. Kimmel’s future at the network — and perhaps in late-night TV altogether — is now in serious doubt.
