Joe Burrow’s Charity Fires Judge From Board Over ‘Inappropriate’ Posts About Charlie Kirk’s Assassination
The Joe Burrow Foundation has removed an Ohio judge from its board after he posted a series of offensive comments mocking the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Ted Berry, who serves as a judge in Ohio, was ousted from the charity’s advisory board after his remarks about the 31-year-old Turning Point USA founder drew widespread backlash.

“The Joe Burrow Foundation was founded on the belief that everybody has the responsibility to do good,” the organization said in a statement. “We have terminated an advisory board member that made inappropriate remarks in light of recent events and they are no longer associated with the Foundation. Their comments do not reflect our values or our mission. We are committed to accountability and respect for all.”
Berry’s posts included one in which he sneered “Rest in Hatred & Division!” on a tribute to Kirk. In another, he described Kirk as someone who “spewed hate & division.” He also reportedly wrote, “How’s he feel about gun violence and gun control in Hell, now?”
Confronted by local media, Berry attempted to soften his comments, claiming: “I do not condone any type of violence on any human being. I regret if I caused division. That was not my intent. And I hope there can be peace.”
The Joe Burrow Foundation, founded by the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback in 2022, focuses on providing resources and support for underprivileged and underserved communities.
Berry’s removal follows a string of firings across the sports world in the wake of Kirk’s murder. The Carolina Panthers fired communications coordinator Charlie Rock for an “insensitive” Instagram post, while PHNX Sports fired Suns beat reporter Gerald Bourguet over his comments on X.
Kirk, a husband and father of two, was assassinated Wednesday while addressing students at Utah Valley University. His death has shaken the conservative movement nationwide — and sparked growing demands for accountability for those who cheered his killing.
