Julia Fox Takes a Stand in Lively-Baldoni Legal Dispute

Julia Fox, the actress known for her role in ‘Uncut Gems,’ has publicly announced her stance in the ongoing legal feud involving Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively. This confrontation stems from their collaboration on the 2024 film, ‘It Ends With Us.’ Fox voiced her happiness upon hearing recent developments in favor of Lively, affirming, ‘I am always in support of women.’

These comments were made after revelations that a defamation lawsuit filed by Baldoni against Lively and her spouse, Ryan Reynolds, demanding a staggering $400 million, had been dismissed by a judge. Following this announcement, Fox took the opportunity to express her unwavering support for all women, irrespective of their circumstances.

Asserting her views, the 35-year-old actress said, ‘I support women regardless of whether they are right or wrong. I back women who are likable or otherwise. My support extends to women I have nothing in common with and those who share similarities with me. With this in mind, I extend my support to Blake,’ Fox declared.

Fox candidly opened up about how she relates to Lively’s experiences, having herself been a target of the internet. For Fox, the internet’s treatment of individuals is deeply concerning, ‘I have observed sheer inhumanity in the way people behave,’ she remarked.

Fox made her stance crystal clear by stating she would not consider professionally collaborating with Baldoni. Regardless of the veracity of the charges placed by Lively against Baldoni, Fox was resolute in her belief that Lively did not warrant the public backlash she has received.

Fox explained further, ‘The retribution women face often eclipses the infractions that are alleged – we’re still unaware if an infraction has even occurred in this case.’ She implored people to withhold their judgment and put a halt to speculation until all evidential facts have come to light.

The actress also wishes to echo the sentiment that support exists for those who find themselves the subjects of public attention. ‘Silence need to be maintained until full facts are understood, and speculative opinions should be kept to oneself,’ the actress concluded.

This case started in December of the previous year, when Lively lodged a lawsuit against Baldoni, alleging she was sexually harassed during the filming of ‘It Ends With Us.’ Baldoni, who is well known for ‘Jane the Virgin,’ refuted these allegations and, in response, slapped a $400 million lawsuit against Lively and her husband, Reynolds, in January.

However, this week saw Judge Lewis J. Liman ruling in favor of the motion to dismiss the countersuit lodged by Baldoni. This dismissal also includes his $250 million libel lawsuit against the New York Times.

Courtesy of this ruling, it ‘claimed that Reynolds and Sloane had published more statements accusing Baldoni of sexual misconduct, and the New York Times had published additional comments alleging that the involved parties were engaging in a smear campaign.’

The court has, however, provided Baldoni’s legal team with a window until June 23 to revise their claims relating to breaches of implied covenant and tortious interference with an existing contract.

The legal proceedings involving Lively and Baldoni are projected to commence in March 2026. Judge Liman expanded on his ruling by saying, ‘The lawsuit did not present an argument that the parties would have doubted the veracity of the statements under the available information needed for them to be found accountable for defamation as dictated by the law.’
