Nancy Pelosi Calls Trump ‘Vile Creature,’ Blames Him for Rising Political Violence in Divisive CNN Interview
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi unleashed a tirade against President Donald Trump during a CNN interview aired Monday, calling him “a vile creature” and “the worst thing on the face of the earth.” The remarks come amid rising political violence, including two assassination attempts on Trump in 2024 and the killing of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.
“He’s just a vile creature, and the worst thing on the face of the earth,” Pelosi told CNN’s Elex Michaelson. When pressed, she doubled down: “I do, yeah.”
Pelosi, 85, claimed Trump doesn’t respect the Constitution, accusing him of turning the Supreme Court into a “rogue court,” abolishing the House of Representatives, and intimidating legal immigrants. She was not asked to explain how Trump had supposedly abolished the House or why she believes the Supreme Court is “rogue.”

The interview focused on California’s upcoming vote on Proposition 50, a redistricting measure meant to further entrench Democratic dominance in the state. Pelosi linked the proposition to her broader political mission.
“For me, it’s just a question about one thing: winning the House for the Democrats,” she said. “And the only reason I’m in Congress this term is to win the House for the Democrats, to protect us from the poison of the Trump administration.”
Democrats are reportedly bracing for Pelosi’s potential retirement, with NBC News reporting she may make an announcement after the election.
Pelosi’s aggressive rhetoric drew criticism from Republicans, who noted the surge in left-wing political violence. During a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing last week, Sen. Eric Schmitt said political violence has become a regular feature of American life over the past 15 months.
Daily Wire host Michael Knowles also testified, accusing Democrats of downplaying the threat of left-wing violence. Referencing the murder of Charlie Kirk, Knowles said, “One cannot solve a problem if one does not know where the problem lies.” He praised members of Congress for finally confronting what he called a pattern of left-wing terrorism.
Pelosi herself has been personally affected by political violence. In 2022, her husband, Paul Pelosi, was attacked in their home by a man who espoused conspiracy theories. Trump, while calling the attack “a sad situation,” also poked fun at Pelosi’s home security.
“Pelosi has a big wall wrapped around her house, but of course, it didn’t help too much with the problem she had, did it?” Trump said at a 2024 rally.
