President Trump Threatens To Back Primary Challenge Against Lauren Boebert Over Thomas Massie Support

President Trump escalated his growing feud with Rep. Thomas Massie on Saturday night by threatening to support a future primary challenge against Rep. Lauren Boebert after she publicly campaigned alongside the embattled Kentucky Republican.

In a series of fiery social media posts, President Trump blasted Republicans who continue backing Massie and singled out Boebert for standing with the congressman despite the president’s ongoing effort to remove him from office.

“Boebert is campaigning for the Worst ‘Republican’ Congressman in the History of our Country, Thomas Massie,” President Trump wrote. “Anybody who can be that dumb deserves a good Primary fight!”

Trump went even further by warning he could withdraw his endorsement of Boebert if a stronger challenger emerged in Colorado.

“Even though I long ago endorsed Boebert, if the right person came along, it would be my Honor to withdraw that Endorsement and endorse a good and proper alternative,” the president added.

Boebert responded shortly afterward, acknowledging Trump’s criticism but making clear she had no regrets about supporting Massie.

“Yes, I saw the President’s post. No, I’m not mad or offended,” Boebert said online. “I knew the risks when I agreed to stand by my friend Thomas Massie. I was, and will be, America First, America Always, and MAGA.”

Before Trump’s direct attack, Boebert had attempted to publicly balance her loyalty to both men by praising President Trump and Massie simultaneously in a social media statement emphasizing her support for conservative principles and limited government.

The clash comes as Massie faces the most serious political threat of his congressional career. Long viewed as a libertarian-minded fiscal hawk willing to buck party leadership, Massie has repeatedly broken with President Trump on major issues including Iran policy, the Epstein files controversy, and the administration’s “One Big, Beautiful Bill.”

President Trump has responded by fully backing Massie’s primary challenger, retired Navy SEAL and Kentucky farmer Ed Gallrein.

“The man running against Massie, Ed Gallrein, is a true American Patriot,” Trump wrote Saturday night. “He is loyal, and MAGA all the way.”

Despite Massie’s deep roots in Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District and years of strong support among grassroots conservatives, recent polling suggests the race may be tightening. A new Quantus Insights survey reportedly showed Gallrein leading Massie among likely Republican primary voters, marking the first public poll to place the Trump-backed challenger ahead.

Massie has blamed outside influence and special-interest money for the shifting dynamics in the race, particularly after reports highlighted major spending from pro-Israel lobbying organizations and political donors targeting the Kentucky congressman.

The increasingly bitter Kentucky battle follows President Trump’s recent success in helping oust several Republicans viewed as disloyal to the MAGA movement, including Louisiana Sen. Bill Cassidy, who recently lost his re-election bid after years of backlash tied to his impeachment vote against Trump.
