President Trump Unveils ‘America First’ Counterterror Plan Targeting Cartels, Jihadists, Extremists
President Donald Trump has rolled out a sweeping new “America First” counterterrorism strategy aimed at dismantling threats from drug cartels, Islamist terror groups, and violent domestic extremists both inside the United States and abroad.
The new framework, unveiled by Sebastian Gorka during a White House press call, lays out a broad national security blueprint focused on stopping threats before they can reach American soil.
Gorka described the 16-page plan as an aggressive effort to protect the homeland through rapid action, expanded intelligence coordination, and tougher enforcement measures targeting organizations viewed as national security threats.
One of the strategy’s top priorities is combating cartel activity across the Western Hemisphere. Gorka said the administration plans to intensify efforts to “incapacitate cartel operations” and increase the use of Foreign Terrorist Organization designations to cut off financial networks and logistical support systems tied to drug trafficking groups.
The strategy also expands federal attention toward violent domestic political extremists. Gorka specifically referenced anarchist and anti-American groups, including Antifa, saying federal authorities intend to identify members, map networks, and disrupt operations before violence occurs.
“We will not permit politically motivated violence in the United States from either side of the aisle,” Gorka said, while referencing recent attacks and threats targeting political figures, including the attempted attack at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
Internationally, the administration is placing renewed emphasis on combating Islamist terror organizations, including Al-Qaeda, AQAP, and ISIS affiliates such as ISIS-K in Afghanistan. Gorka said the administration intends to continue rapid-strike operations against terrorists plotting attacks against Americans.
“If we know where you are, if you’re plotting to kill Americans, within 72 hours we can kill you or arrest you,” he said while discussing the military and intelligence capabilities developed over the past two decades.
The strategy also places a major focus on preventing terrorists from acquiring weapons of mass destruction, particularly nuclear or radiological materials. Gorka described that threat as one of the most serious dangers facing the country.
Officials additionally warned about the rise of online radicalization, arguing that terror groups increasingly rely on social media and digital propaganda to inspire attacks by lone actors instead of organizing traditional training camps overseas.
The administration says the policy will combine military action, intelligence operations, sanctions, law enforcement coordination, and financial pressure campaigns into a unified effort against terror threats.
Gorka framed the strategy as a direct extension of President Donald Trump’s broader “America First” doctrine, arguing that the federal government must aggressively confront threats before they escalate.
“Whether it is cartels, jihadists or violent extremists,” Gorka said, “we will take them on head-on.”
