Star Dodgers Pitcher Pays Tribute to Charlie Kirk on the Mound

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Blake Treinen honored Charlie Kirk on Friday night, paying tribute to the slain conservative leader during the team’s matchup against the San Francisco Giants.

Photos circulating online show Treinen with Kirk’s name written on the side of his cap, flanked by two crosses. The gesture came just one day after Kirk, 31, was assassinated while speaking to students at Utah Valley University.

Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, rose to prominence as a bold voice for young conservatives and an unapologetic Christian. Before his death, he was asked how he wanted to be remembered. His answer was simple and unwavering:

“I want to be remembered for courage for my faith,” Kirk said. “That would be the most important thing. The most important thing is my faith in my life.”

Treinen, too, has been outspoken about his faith. After helping lead the Dodgers to a World Series victory in 2024, he declared: “God is absolutely good. I gotta give a shout out to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for this moment, man. It’s a lot of hard work, what I’ve gone through. This moment is such a blessing.”

When asked by reporters that night what was on his mind, Treinen didn’t hesitate: “God. Everything I’ve been through, it’s just so good to be here and have this platform.”

By inscribing Kirk’s name on his hat, Treinen underscored a shared commitment to faith and courage — the very virtues Kirk himself said he hoped would define his legacy.
