Suspected Minnesota Assassin Went To Homes Of Two Other Elected Officials: Prosecutor

Prosecutors have revealed that Vance Luther Boelter, the man accused of assassinating former House Speaker Melissa Hortman and shooting State Senator John Hoffman, attempted to target at least two additional Minnesota lawmakers during his deadly spree.

Newly unsealed documents show Boelter went to the homes of State Senator Ann Rest and Representative Kristin Bahner shortly after attacking Hoffman and before ultimately murdering Hortman and her husband. Fortunately, neither Rest nor Bahner were home at the time. Law enforcement sources now confirm Boelter had conducted extensive surveillance on over 40 elected officials prior to the attacks.

Authorities say Boelter was disguised in full tactical gear and wore a latex mask. Driving a vehicle outfitted with fake police lights, he posed as law enforcement to deceive his victims and gain entry. At each stop, he appeared calm and prepared, using pre-rehearsed language to lower suspicion.

What investigators found afterward was chilling: a handwritten “kill list” with the names of more than 70 current and former political figures, activists, and abortion providers. Inside his vehicle were multiple firearms, body armor, false credentials, and printed maps with hand-marked routes.

The prosecution described the attack as a politically motivated act of domestic terrorism. Boelter allegedly expressed contempt for lawmakers who had either supported immigration reforms or, like Hortman, crossed party lines to oppose controversial handouts to illegal immigrants.

He now faces multiple counts of first-degree murder, attempted murder, and weapons violations. If convicted, he could spend the rest of his life behind bars without the possibility of parole.

Officials at both the state and federal level are now reevaluating security protocols for elected officials, warning that this assassination plot marks a dangerous new chapter in the rise of ideological violence within the United States.
