Trump Debuts Dramatic New Brown Hairdo — and the Internet Can’t Believe It
President Donald Trump surprised observers this weekend by appearing with a dramatically different hairstyle, trading his famous blond locks for a noticeably darker brown look.
Trump unveiled the apparent makeover Friday as he stepped off Air Force One at Morristown Municipal Airport in New Jersey before heading to his golf club in Bedminster for the weekend.
The 80-year-old president wore a navy suit and yellow tie, but it was his hair that quickly attracted attention.
Trump’s typically golden-blond hair appeared considerably darker, with the new shade resembling brown or chestnut.
His hairstyle itself also looked different. The president’s normally carefully arranged side part appeared to be flipped in the opposite direction, while his hair had a more tousled appearance than usual.
Photos of Trump’s unexpected transformation quickly spread across social media, where users expressed disbelief, cracked jokes and questioned what had prompted the sudden change.
Journalist Yashar Ali was among those stunned by the images, saying he initially had trouble believing the photographs were authentic before verifying they came from Getty Images.
Other observers compared Trump’s new appearance to everyone from former James Bond star Pierce Brosnan to 1970s game-show hosts.
Some simply focused on the most obvious change: Trump, whose distinctive blond hair has been part of his public image for decades, suddenly appeared to be a brunette.
The White House did not immediately offer an explanation for the darker appearance, leaving it unclear whether Trump had actually dyed his hair or whether other factors contributed to the change.
There was also no indication that the apparent makeover was intended to be permanent.
Trump was later photographed golfing at his Bedminster club with Fox News anchor Bret Baier and several others, but he wore a red cap that concealed most of his hair.
The sudden attention comes just days after Trump once again addressed longstanding speculation about whether his famous hairstyle is real.
During a White House Rose Garden dinner Wednesday, Trump recalled attending an exceptionally windy campaign rally in Ohio in 2024 and joked that the conditions proved once and for all that he does not wear a wig.
“For years, I had to suffer with people saying, ‘He wears a wig,’” Trump told guests before insisting that he does not.
Trump has repeatedly addressed the subject over the years, including during his first presidential campaign, when his distinctive hairstyle became a frequent target of jokes and speculation.
He has also publicly joked about trying to conceal a bald spot while maintaining that his hair is his own.
Whether Trump’s newly brunette appearance represents a genuine makeover or merely a temporary change remains unclear.
But for at least one weekend, the president managed to create a social-media frenzy without announcing a new policy or entering another political fight — simply by stepping off Air Force One with a dramatically different head of hair.
