Trump Declares US Has ‘Total Control’ of Strait of Hormuz, Says Iran Is ‘All Talk and No Action’

President Donald Trump declared Wednesday that the United States now has “total control” over the Strait of Hormuz, touting the powerful U.S. naval blockade surrounding Iran as a “Wall of Steel” while increased amounts of oil begin flowing out of the critical Middle Eastern waterway.

Trump said the United States has established overwhelming control over the strait following months of military conflict and economic pressure against Tehran. The president even suggested Washington may maintain its dominant position over the strategically vital passage for the foreseeable future.

The president pointed to the massive American naval presence as evidence that Iran no longer controls events in the region. He said the blockade has become known as a “Wall of Steel” and argued that Tehran lacks the military strength necessary to challenge it.

Trump also delivered a scathing assessment of Iran’s current condition, arguing that the Islamic Republic has been severely weakened militarily and economically. He pointed to the destruction of Iranian military capabilities, financial problems inside the country and enormous pressure on Tehran’s leadership.

According to Trump, Iran no longer possesses an effective navy or air force capable of confronting the United States. He also said Iran’s remaining soldiers are going unpaid and claimed the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has been devastated by the conflict.

The president similarly highlighted Iran’s worsening economic problems. He argued that Tehran has run out of money while inflation continues soaring, leaving the regime with increasingly limited options as American economic pressure tightens.

“Iran is all talk and no action,” Trump declared, portraying the Islamic Republic as a dramatically diminished regional power. He argued that the country can no longer operate as the “Bully of the Middle East” after suffering major military and economic losses.

Trump’s declaration came one day after Energy Secretary Chris Wright reported significant increases in oil shipments leaving the region. The seven-day average of oil moving through the Strait of Hormuz has climbed to nearly 9 million barrels per day.

When additional oil traveling through upgraded pipelines and export facilities is included, Wright said total regional flows are averaging approximately 15 million barrels per day. More than 20 million barrels reportedly left the Arabian Gulf region on Sunday alone, exceeding the average level recorded before the conflict.

The administration renewed its blockade of Iranian ports last month as Trump shifted toward using economic pressure to force Tehran into accepting a peace agreement. With oil increasingly moving through the region while Iran remains squeezed by the American blockade, Trump is now arguing that the balance of power has decisively shifted toward the United States.

Trump’s latest message makes clear that he believes Iran’s ability to dictate terms in the Strait of Hormuz has been shattered. Rather than backing away from the American naval presence, the president is openly suggesting the United States may keep its grip on the waterway while waiting for a weakened Tehran to make its next move.
