President Donald Trump signed the One Big, Beautiful Bill into law on the Fourth of July, delivering a sweeping legislative victory on America’s birthday and ushering in what he called “the Golden Age of America.”
Emerging from the South Portico of the White House alongside First Lady Melania Trump, the president stood for the national anthem and watched a military flyover before addressing the nation.
“This is gonna be something special,” Trump told the crowd. “There’s spirit in this country — we haven’t seen anything like it in many, many years. The American people gave us a historic mandate in November. We made promises, and it’s really promises made, promises kept. This is a triumph of democracy on the birthday of democracy.”
Trump paid tribute to U.S. forces who carried out Operation Midnight Hammer, saluting the mission that destroyed Iran’s nuclear facilities just weeks earlier.
Then, flanked by House Speaker Mike Johnson and House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, Trump signed the nearly 900-page bill into law.

A Marathon Victory
The legislation cleared both chambers of Congress by the slimmest of margins. The House passed it 218-214 early Thursday after Speaker Johnson spent hours wrangling votes from Republican holdouts. Democrats attempted to delay the vote, with Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries speaking for over eight hours on the House floor. In the Senate, Vice President JD Vance cast the decisive tie-breaking vote after three GOP senators opposed the package.
“From the beginning, President Trump insisted we pass this by Independence Day,” Johnson said. “He never wavered. And we delivered.”
A Message to the Nation
At the signing ceremony, Trump called the bill “the most consequential legislative achievement in modern American history,” saying it would “restore American strength across the board — economically, militarily, and morally.”
“The Golden Age of America is upon us,” Trump said. “It’s going to be a period of time the likes of which I don’t think this country has ever experienced before.”
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt called July 4 “a victorious day for the American people,” adding: “President Trump delivered win after win — and this one will define a generation.”
