Amid a wave of public back-and-forth with the Tesla CEO, Trump dismissed the notion that their feud is of any real significance, saying he’s far too focused on global threats to waste time on personal squabbles.
“I’ve been so busy working on China, Russia, Iran… I’m not thinking about Elon,” Trump said while speaking aboard Air Force One. “I just wish him well.”

The cooling words follow weeks of rising tensions between the two men. Musk openly criticized Trump’s landmark “One Big Beautiful Bill,” warning it would worsen the national debt. Trump, never one to back down, fired back with warnings that the federal government may reconsider contracts and subsidies tied to Musk’s companies. The drama reached a new level when Musk floated wild accusations about Trump’s ties to the Epstein case—a move many saw as reckless and unfounded.
Despite reports that intermediaries have encouraged the two to reconcile, Trump poured cold water on the idea of an imminent conversation. “No, I won’t be speaking to him for a while, I guess,” he said. “But I wish him well.”
Interestingly, Musk himself appeared to signal some willingness to mend fences, replying “You’re not wrong” to a post suggesting the two leaders need to find common ground for the good of the country. But for now, Trump isn’t biting.
