Trump Urges Lindsey Graham’s Sister To Run For Full Senate Term

President Donald Trump has endorsed Sen. Lindsey Graham’s sister, Darline Graham Nordone, to seek a full six-year term in the U.S. Senate, calling her “a spectacular person” and saying there is “nobody better” to continue serving the people of South Carolina.

Nordone, who was appointed earlier this week by South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster to fill the remainder of her late brother’s Senate term, would need to win the upcoming Republican special primary on Aug. 11 if she decides to remain in the race for a full term. President Trump announced his endorsement in a Truth Social post, offering what he described as his “Complete and Total Endorsement.”

President Trump praised Nordone for her public service and said she would continue the conservative agenda championed by her brother. He also credited Lindsey Graham with years of service in the Senate and expressed confidence that his sister would carry on that legacy.

Nordone has never previously held elected office but has served in several South Carolina government positions, including as commissioner of the South Carolina Commission for the Blind. She became the first woman to represent South Carolina in the U.S. Senate after being sworn in earlier this week.

While President Trump’s endorsement gives Nordone a significant boost, she has not yet formally announced whether she will run for the full term. Several prominent Republicans, including Reps. Nancy Mace and Ralph Norman, are still considering entering the race, setting the stage for a potentially competitive GOP primary.

The winner of the Republican primary will advance to the general election later this year to determine who will serve the remainder of the Senate term. President Trump’s endorsement immediately reshaped the contest and is expected to play a major role in the Republican nomination battle.
