Trump’s Super PAC Pours $10 Million Into Ken Paxton’s Texas Senate Race
President Donald Trump’s main super PAC is launching a $10 million advertising blitz to support Republican Ken Paxton in Texas, marking its first major spending push of the 2026 midterm general election.
MAGA Inc. disclosed the expenditure Saturday as Paxton, Texas’ attorney general, faces Democrat James Talarico in an unexpectedly competitive race for the U.S. Senate.
The $10 million campaign will be divided evenly, with $5 million spent on television and digital advertisements supporting Paxton and another $5 million funding advertisements opposing Talarico.
The investment represents the first major deployment of MAGA Inc.’s enormous midterm war chest into one of November’s marquee congressional contests.
Trump’s political operation has accumulated more than $400 million in available funds, prompting Republican strategists to question when those resources would begin flowing into competitive races.
Trump answered those questions Friday, telling reporters that he intends to spend heavily to help Republican candidates during the final stretch of the midterms.
“I’m going to spend whatever amount of money necessary to try and help us,” Trump said, estimating that he could ultimately allocate between $400 million and $500 million.
The decision to begin with Texas underscores how important the state’s Senate contest has become for Republicans.
Paxton emerged from a bruising Republican primary after defeating incumbent Sen. John Cornyn in a runoff. Trump’s endorsement played a prominent role in Paxton’s campaign.
The general-election contest has since become highly competitive, with recent polling showing Paxton and Talarico running close to one another.
Talarico also enters the final stretch with a substantial fundraising advantage.
Federal campaign-finance filings show Talarico has raised roughly $69 million during the election cycle compared with approximately $9 million for Paxton through the periods covered by the filings.
Talarico also held approximately $21.5 million in available campaign cash compared with about $1.75 million for Paxton, making outside Republican spending particularly significant.
MAGA Inc.’s opening advertisements focus heavily on taxes and affordability. The group accuses Talarico of supporting tax increases while portraying Paxton as favoring policies designed to reduce costs.
Talarico’s campaign disputes those attacks and argues that outside groups backed by wealthy donors are misrepresenting his record. His campaign has pointed to his support for property-tax reductions while criticizing the influx of super PAC money into the race.
Paxton welcomed Trump’s assistance, thanking the president and arguing that his agenda would lower costs for Texas families.
Trump has already personally campaigned for Paxton, and Republicans are preparing to gather in Dallas for the party’s midterm convention later this week.
MAGA Inc. is not the only outside Republican organization entering the contest. Elon Musk’s America PAC has also begun spending money supporting Paxton and opposing Talarico.
The Texas race is one of several Senate contests receiving intense national attention as Republicans defend their 53-47 majority.
Texas has not elected a Democrat statewide in more than three decades, but the competitiveness of the Paxton-Talarico contest has turned the traditionally Republican state into a major focus for both parties.
With two months remaining before Election Day, Trump’s $10 million investment signals that his massive political operation is beginning to move into the midterm fight — and Texas is the first major battleground receiving substantial reinforcements.
