White House Slams Mark Hamill Over AI Image Showing President Donald Trump In Grave
The White House blasted Mark Hamill on Thursday after the actor shared an AI-generated image depicting President Donald Trump lying in a grave beneath a tombstone reading “Donald J. Trump: 1946–2024” alongside the caption, “If only.”

The image, which Hamill posted to the social media platform BlueSky, quickly triggered outrage from administration officials and Trump supporters, particularly given the recent attempted assassination at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
The White House’s Rapid Response 47 account sharply condemned the actor in a statement posted to X.
“Mark Hamill is one sick individual,” the administration account wrote. “These Radical Left lunatics just can’t help themselves. This kind of rhetoric is exactly what has inspired three assassination attempts in two years against our President.”
Hamill, best known for portraying Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise, accompanied the image with a lengthy anti-Trump message in which he wished the president would remain alive long enough to face political defeat and public disgrace.
“If Only,” Hamill wrote. “He should live long enough to witness his inevitable devastating loss in the midterms, be held accountable for his unprecedented corruption, impeached, convicted & humiliated for his countless crimes.”
The actor ended the post with the hashtag “#don_TheCON.”
The controversy erupted just days after authorities arrested a suspect accused of attempting to assassinate Trump and senior administration officials at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, D.C.
Hamill has frequently attacked Trump publicly over the years and previously threatened to leave the United States following Trump’s 2024 election victory.
In an interview with the Times of London, Hamill claimed he considered relocating to Ireland or the United Kingdom before his wife convinced him to remain in America.
“She said, ‘I’m surprised you would allow him to force you out of your own country,’” Hamill recalled. “That son of a bitch, I thought. I’m not leaving.”
At the time, the White House mocked Hamill’s comments and compared him to Rosie O’Donnell, who previously moved to Ireland after Trump’s victory.
The latest backlash also came shortly after Hamill appeared in a video alongside Barack Obama to celebrate “Star Wars Day” on May 4.
