Jeb Bush Praises Trump’s Iran Strategy While Warning Of Growing Threat From Cuba
Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush praised President Donald Trump for severely weakening Iran‘s military capabilities but warned that the United States now faces a growing security threat just 90 miles off its coast, citing reports that Cuba possesses hundreds of Iranian-made suicide drones.
Speaking at a United Against Nuclear Iran event, Bush said Iran has been “decimated” by the Trump administration’s military campaign, arguing that roughly 80% of the regime’s capability to manufacture drones, missiles, and other military equipment has been destroyed. He also credited the administration with crippling much of Iran’s naval power.
Bush cautioned, however, that the threat has not disappeared. He pointed to reports that Cuba has acquired approximately 300 Iranian Shahed kamikaze drones capable of traveling up to 1,500 miles while carrying more than 100 pounds of explosives, putting much of the southeastern United States within range.
Rep. Carlos Gimenez joined Bush in highlighting the concern, warning that the drones could reach Florida within minutes and describing unmanned aircraft and artificial intelligence as the future of modern warfare. He noted that even Guantanamo Bay and cities such as Atlanta could potentially fall within the drones’ operational range.
The warnings come as the Trump administration continues its maximum-pressure campaign against Cuba. Earlier this year, the administration imposed an oil blockade that has contributed to widespread energy shortages, rolling blackouts, and growing unrest across the communist island.
Despite the concerns, Bush expressed confidence in the administration’s handling of Iran, saying President Trump’s actions have significantly reduced Tehran’s ability to destabilize the Middle East. He argued that the emerging threat from Cuba demonstrates why the United States must remain vigilant even as Iran’s military capabilities continue to deteriorate.
