Trump Confirms GOP Will Hold First-Ever Midterm Convention in Dallas This September

President Trump confirmed Tuesday that Republicans will hold what he described as the party’s first-ever “midterm convention” in Dallas on Sept. 9 and 10 as the GOP looks to build momentum heading into the November elections.

The president announced the event on Truth Social, calling it a historic moment for the Republican Party.

“BIG NEWS! For the first time ever, the Republican Party will hold a MIDTERM CONVENTION. It will be in Dallas, Texas — One of my favorite places in the World,” Trump wrote.

Trump described the gathering as a celebration of what he called the success of his America First agenda and the accomplishments of his administration.

“It will be fantastic! It has never been done before, and will be a truly Historic Event,” the president said.

He pointed to policies including eliminating taxes on tips, overtime pay and Social Security benefits, along with stronger border security, lower costs, job growth and expanded domestic energy production.

Trump also highlighted falling oil prices and ongoing efforts involving Iran as examples of the administration’s progress.

“We are delivering on the promises that politicians talked about for decades, but never got done,” he said.

The president said the convention will feature workers, entrepreneurs, manufacturers, first responders and business leaders from across the country, alongside entertainment and campaign-style events.

“It will be a RALLY like none other!” Trump wrote.

The event comes as Republicans prepare for competitive congressional races across the country and look to expand their House majority in the midterm elections.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, the Republican Senate nominee in Texas, had previously indicated Dallas would host the event, though details were not officially confirmed until Trump’s announcement.

Unlike traditional presidential nominating conventions, which typically span four days, the Dallas event will take place over two days on a Tuesday and Wednesday.

Republican National Committee Chairman Joe Gruters described the gathering as a “Trumpapalooza” focused on promoting the administration’s record and unifying Republicans ahead of November.

“This historic Midterm Convention will highlight President Trump’s many accomplishments and unwavering commitment to restoring America,” Gruters said.

He added that the convention would showcase the America First agenda while helping build enthusiasm for Republican candidates nationwide.

Trump concluded his announcement by tying the event to the country’s upcoming 250th anniversary celebration.

“THE GOLDEN AGE OF AMERICA HAS ONLY JUST BEGUN!” the president declared.
