Melania Trump Speaks Out After Supreme Court Upholds Women’s Sports Law
First Lady Melania Trump issued a rare public statement Wednesday following a major Supreme Court ruling that upheld a West Virginia law restricting transgender athletes born male from competing in girls’ and women’s sports.
The first lady used the moment to call for both respect for the LGBTQ community and protections for female athletes.
“As many of you may know, I fully support the LGBTQIA+ community. But we must also ensure that our female athletes are protected and respected,” Melania Trump wrote in a post on X.
She noted that she had previously expressed similar views in her memoir.
