Eric Swalwell Racked Up $192K In Flights As Campaign Spending Draws Scrutiny
Former Rep. Eric Swalwell is facing renewed scrutiny over campaign spending after records showed nearly $192,000 in flight expenses during 2025.
According to campaign filings, the travel costs included dozens of flights exceeding $1,000 and multiple trips topping $2,000. A former staffer claimed Swalwell routinely chose first-class tickets, raising concerns about how donor funds were used during his time in Congress and his bid for California governor.
The spending extended into his gubernatorial campaign, where records indicate more than $22,000 in flight-related expenses in a single month late last year. One listed trip from Washington, D.C., to San Francisco alone cost over $1,800.
The same filings show more than 200 flight charges that lacked detailed descriptions, drawing additional questions about transparency. Swalwell also reportedly listed himself as treasurer of his campaign committee, which still holds millions in cash.
These revelations add to broader questions about campaign expenditures tied to the former lawmaker. Previous reports highlighted significant spending on hotels and other travel-related costs during his campaigns.
Swalwell stepped down from Congress and suspended his gubernatorial campaign earlier this month amid allegations of sexual misconduct, which he has denied. Investigations tied to those allegations are ongoing.
The controversy surrounding his finances and personal conduct has intensified debate over how campaign funds are managed and what standards candidates should be held to when using donor money.
