Joe Biden Announces Tell-All Memoir About 2024 Campaign And Presidency
Former President Joe Biden announced that he will release a new memoir this fall detailing his presidency, his decision to seek reelection in 2024, and his eventual withdrawal from the race after mounting pressure from fellow Democrats.
The book, titled “Promise Me, America,” is scheduled for release on Nov. 17, shortly after the 2026 midterm elections. Biden said the memoir will explain the major decisions of his presidency and offer his account of the events that shaped his time in office.
In a video announcing the book, Biden said it will cover the challenges the country faced during his administration, the choices he made while in office, and his enduring belief in what he called “the promise of America.” He confirmed the memoir will discuss his controversial 2024 reelection campaign and his decision to step aside before the Democratic National Convention.
The memoir will also revisit several defining moments of Biden’s presidency, including the COVID-19 pandemic, the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, the war in Ukraine, and his administration’s economic agenda.
The announcement immediately drew criticism from Republicans and generated renewed jokes online about Biden’s frequent use of an autopen during his presidency. House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith quipped, “Did the autopen write this too?” while other critics questioned whether Biden personally authored the memoir.
The book’s timing has also sparked debate among Democrats. Biden had originally planned to publish the memoir before the midterm elections, but concerns within the party that it could distract from congressional campaigns reportedly led to the release being pushed back until after Election Day.
Biden also used the announcement to provide an update on his health, saying treatment for his metastatic prostate cancer is progressing well. He thanked supporters for their prayers and said he has been spending more time with his family while undergoing treatment.
The memoir will be Biden’s first comprehensive account of his presidency since leaving office and is expected to revisit the events that ultimately led to President Trump’s return to the White House after the 2024 election.
